Online Mechanical Engineering
Online mechanical engineering presents a mechanical equipment list starting with C. Carbon monoxide control system A system which controls supply and exhaust air supplied to ensure that garage carbon monoxide levels do not exceed 49 ppm. Chiller, Absorption This is a low pressure refrigeration machine that uses chemicals and a source of heat to generate cooling water. Chiller, Centrifugal This is a self contained, low pressure, power driven refrigerant unit which consists of an evaporator, compressor and water cooled condenser (cooling tower) and compressor. It is used to provide chilled water to air conditioning systems. Chiller, Reciprocating This is a high pressure piston type compressor usually operated by an electric motor combining a compressor and chilled water evaporator. The air or water cooled condenser may be detached or part of the unit. Cooling coil A mechanical component designed to remove heat from air and sometimes water passing through it. Constructed of tubes, fins and required piping. Condenser evaporative This is a device which uses open spray or spill water to cool the refrigerant. It consists of condenser, sump, makeup water pump, spray bars and wooden slots. May or may not include a fan assembly. Online Mechanical Engineering Compressed air dryer A device which uses a refrigeration system to remove moisture from the ambient air before distributing it to the pneumatic system. Compressor refrigeration This equipment is used to add the heat of compression to a refrigerant and circulate the refrigerant throughout the refrigeration system. This system consists of condenser, thermostatic valve, evaporator, compressor and associated piping.Condenser air cooled This is the part of a refrigeration system that uses surrounding air as a medium to convert the high pressure, high temperature vapour received from the compressor to a high pressure, high temperature liquid through the heat of rejection. Condenser water cooled This is the part of a refrigeration system that uses water as a medium to reject heat from the refrigerant. Controls combustion This speaks to the system of controls on combustion equipment allowing for safe and efficient operation of the equipment. Controls electric and electronic Electric and electronic control devices. Control system These are control devices that are used with building automation systems for monitoring and controlling alarm, security, fire safety, energy and environmental systems. Controls pneumatic These controls use compressed air as the operational source. May be thermostats, controllers, switches, actuators and valves. Controls feed water This is a device that monitors and controls the flow of feed water to a boiler or holding tank. Online mechanical engineering Controls gas analyzer This equipment is used for sampling and analyzing exhaust gases with the purpose being to activate alarms, record, indicate or provide control functions. Convector hot water This is a heat transfer device using the principle of either natural or forced convection. Natural convection is usually used for heating while forced convection may be used for both heating and cooling applications. Converter This device is heat transfer equipment that operates with two different mediums, steam and water or infrequently brine and chilled water. Cooling tower This equipment cools by water evaporation in the air. Cooling towers are usually to cool condensed water for use by chillers. Mechanical Equipment
