Economizer

This equipment is a heat transfer device located within a boiler exhaust stack.

End device

This is equipment which is used to transmit signals in electric, electronic and pneumatic control systems.

Evaporator

This equipment removes heat from a medium such as air or water using a refrigerant to accomplish the process.

Electrostatic filter

This device is designed to clean air by giving dust particles an electric charge which causes the particles to be attracted to a plate enabling them to be removed from the air.

Expansion joint, piping

This is installed in a piping system that may be steam, water or air and is used to compensate for expansion or contraction caused by temperature or pressure changes.

Fan assembly, supply and return

This equipment is described as a radial or axial flow device used for the distribution of air.

Fan ceiling, circulating

This device is used to simply circulate the air in a room.

Fan combustion

This can be either a forced or induced draft fan serving combustion units.

Fan exhaust

This fan is used to remove stale air or fumes from an enclosed area.

Fume hood

This is a laboratory exhaust cabinet which functions as a ventilated enclosed work space to capture, confine and exhaust all fumes, vapours and particulates generated within the fume hood.

Fume hood exhaust fan

This exhaust fan draws air through the fume hood in a controlled manner and exhausts the air to outside.

Fan coil unit

This equipment is an individually controlled unit fan and coil unit for heating and/or cooling and is controlled by a thermostat controlling either temperature and/or fan.

Fire pump

This electrically driven component provides a high volume of water under pressure to building fire safety systems when required. It may also be gas or diesel powered.

Furnace

This is a self contained piece of equipment that is designed to supply heated air directly or through a duct system and may be either gas, electric or oil heated. It usually consists of a fan assembly, filters, heating section, supply fan and safety controls as well as a control thermostat.
